The Story of Kooinda Brewery …
Kooinda Brewery began as the first ever residentially licensed brewery in Australia, where the award winning first release – American Pale Ale was originally brewed on a 400L handmade brewhouse, and utilised a family in-ground swimming pool as a heat exchange to cool the beer as it transferred to the fermenter!
In late 2010, team Kooinda took the plunge and moved the brewery to a site in Heidelberg West (near La Trobe University), which allowed for increased brewing capacity to meet the growing demand for better beer!
Throughout 2013 Kooinda commenced its next expansion that doubled the brewhouse and tripled overall production capacity. The team has worked extremely hard, and spent many hours at the brewery away from loving family and friends. Of course there were hurdles, but one always has to have a laugh and be happy with where the brewery is today.
Big changes have occurred in 2015, with a changing of the guard in ownership and Kooinda Brewery is evolving. With local engineers at the helm now, improvements in the brewery are being completed continuously, with a sole focus on making better and more interesting beers. Kooinda has new brewers and staff on board as well and is primed to expand again, and offer more and more award winning beers.
