Kooinda Classics

Hand crafted and unfiltered, using only the freshest available barley, hops, water and yeast. We are always tweaking and experimenting with our beers. We will never stop until we find the perfect balance that we are happy with for each beer we produce. As a result, the beers will and do change from batch to batch in terms of hopping. We would love to hear you thoughts on these batches, and drop us a line letting us know the batch number, which will be on your 6 pack carrier from September 2015.

VALHALLA GOLDEN ALE

The legend goes……. Half of all the warriors, dead in battle, would travel to Valhalla. Upon entering the enormous hall, the heaven of the Vikings, they receive a horn full of Golden Ale.

Luckily to find your Valhalla, you only have to get your hands on a bottle of our Golden Ale. Much easier and far less bloody!

Pouring a beautiful golden colour, this is a beer to be enjoyed by all. Delicately hopped with Vic’s Secret and Summer hops (grown locally in Bright Victoria) and a complimentary, lightly sweet malt profile. We strive to make the ultimate in easy drinking beer which is ideal for the Australian climate and something we ourselves would drink on a lazy day.

MILK PORTER

A traditional Porter is black in colour and boasts a thick, rocky, brown head which laces the glass. This porter is brewed with a combination of dark, roasted and chocolate malts and is hopped with Northern Brewer hops, and the addition of lactose.

This beer has flavours of chocolate, roasted coffee, and a delicate milk sweetness. The subtle bitterness cuts through the rich, sweet malt flavours magnificently.

BLACK IPA

What do you do when you take over a brewery that is probably most famous for its Black IPA? Change the Black IPA of course!!

We have simplified the malt bill, moved from Nelson Sauvin hops only to a blend of 4 hops. Our house bittering hop, Ahtanum and Simcoe from the US and a little used hop called Zythos. These give a lingering and in your face bitterness, but balance well against a very lightly roasted malty bill that screams “black in colour, but light in texture”

AMERICAN PALE ALE

The first of our Kooinda beers. A traditional American Pale Ale brewed with Traditional, Cara and Crystal malts, paired with big bitter hops form Australia and America. We use our house bittering hop, along with Topaz, Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic hops to create an enticing hop aroma and a medium level of biterness. Pouring a fantastic orange hued colour, the malt bill adds a generous sweetness for the hops to do their work!

Starting sweet and biscuity on the tongue, this Pale Ale finishes with a good fruity aroma and bitter, drying finish, which leaves your mouth desperate for more.

INKBLOT STOUT

Decant the bottle, what do you see? Black and white images envelop the eye. Everyone has a different vision. A dark beer, a stout, a challenge, a test.

Inkblot is an oatmeal stout, brewed with the addition of sea salt. Set to challenge the drinker and defy it’s lower ABV status. A true beer for ‘distorted thinkers
